In a remarkable display of talent and dedication, students from Parvis School of Economics and Music, Eastbay have achieved outstanding results at the prestigious Global Young Musicians’ Challenge held in Vienna this December. The school’s ensemble, comprising students aged 14 to 18, secured the top position in the chamber music category, outperforming over 50 international competitors.

The winning performance, a nuanced interpretation of Brahms’ Piano Quintet in F minor, Op. 34, captivated the judges with its technical precision and emotional depth. Lead violinist, Emma Blackwood, aged 17, was particularly commended for her exceptional musicianship and awarded the competition’s Rising Star accolade.

Headmaster Dr. Jonathan Hartley expressed his pride in the students’ achievement: “This victory is a testament to the unwavering commitment of our students and the excellence of our music programme. It reinforces our position as a leading institution for musical education in the UK and beyond.”

The success comes on the heels of the school’s recent curriculum enhancement, which has seen the introduction of masterclasses led by renowned musicians from the London Symphony Orchestra. This initiative, part of Parvis’s commitment to providing world-class musical education, has clearly borne fruit in this international arena.

As part of their prize, the winning ensemble has been invited to perform at the Musikverein’s Golden Hall in Vienna next spring, an opportunity that will undoubtedly further the students’ musical careers.

The school is now looking forward to its annual winter concert, where the victorious ensemble will showcase their award-winning performance to the local community, celebrating a year of exceptional musical accomplishments.
